The Beyond the Box Art Program is an exciting opportunity for Glendale artists. The Glendale Arts Commission is currently accepting applications to paint utility boxes and other infrastructure in the City of Glendale. Jennifer Fukutomi-Jones, Arts & Culture Administrator of the City of Glendale, explains: “this year, we’re excited to include a theme for the Beyond the Box mural art program: ‘Celebrating our Cultural Communities’, with the goal of highlighting the rich cultures which make up Glendale. We will be painting 30 utility boxes throughout the City of Glendale during October 16-18, 2020, and are excited to bring more public art to the City.”

There are currently over 100 painted utility boxes throughout the community. The application deadline is September 18. Each artist will receive a stipend of $750 to help cover the cost of materials. Utility boxes will be painted October 16-18.
