Be The Change is the Library’s promise to build collective understanding of systemic racism, elevate the voices and stories of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC), and inspire our community to be the change through lectures, exhibits, and programming. Join us for our inaugural Be The Change Book Festival, a day to celebrate diversity in reading.

Bring the whole family and learn how to create fun and fabulous handmade books using folding, cutting and gluing techniques.

Teen Bookend Project

Leave your mark on the library by decorating our bookends! Finished bookends will be used in the teen sections of each of our library branches, and all interested contributors will receive one hour of community service credit. Please bring your paperwork to the festival for credit.

DJ Rani de Leon

Enjoy the sounds of Rani de Leon, known for his signature blend of eclectic and accessible worldly sounds, jazz textures, and ‘feel-good’ roots & soul music. He is the founder of Soul in the Park, a DJ and live music event series in Los Angeles, and he is the co-founder of Radio Afrique, a series of events focusing on music and film from Africa and the diaspora.
