Imagine Your Story This Summer

This summer may look a little different than previous ones, but thanks to the library’s partnership with Beanstack, the Summer Reading Challenge is going entirely online. So, get ready to Imagine Your Story with the Summer Reading Challenge, today June 1 through August 31. It's easy to register yourself, or the whole family under a single account, and start the challenge today. Log your reading, complete fun activities, earn digital badges, and even enter virtual prize drawings, sponsored by the Glendale Library, Arts & Culture Trust, all from the comfort of your own home.

Kids can register for one of three children’s reading challenges: Early Literacy, Early Elementary, or Tween. Whether the reader is a baby or a toddler being read to, a tween reading independently, or any-aged kid doing some of both, the goal is to read 1,000 minutes or more over the summer, and any reading counts! Kids can earn digital badges for completing fun activities and have the chance to earn three virtual tickets which can be submitted to the prize drawing(s). Don’t forget to check out our weekly schedule of children’s programming, from storytimes to craft videos, featuring all of your favorite children’s librarians!

Teens can use Beanstack to log reading, complete activities, and earn virtual badges and tickets to submit to prize drawings. Try reading a book about someone different than you, a place you've never visited, or a title recommended by a friend. Teens can also explore the our teen site to enjoy the library’s virtual programs, such as a digital escape room and audio/visual content, or maybe to take advantage of the library’s electronic resources to develop creative skills and learn something new.  Teens can also receive community service hours by submitting book reviews through the library’s Teen Speak book review blog.

There’s even a Summer Reading Challenge for adults! Read for enjoyment, complete literary activities, and earn a chance to win a gift card, or choose to donate their prize to Ascencia, a Glendale non-profit organization that lifts people out of homelessness. The library has a wide array of online content, including eBooks and eAudiobooks, and eMagazines and eNewspapers from around the world. Consider expanding your horizons by joining  our virtual book club

So no matter your age or interests, we hope you’ll join our library community in the Imagine Your Story Summer Reading Challenge this summer. Let’s all get reading! We’ll see you online!
